The first-generation Jaguar XF luxury sedan debuted in 2009. The car was completely redesigned for 2016, with the second-generation XF building upon its predecessor's great successes. Now in its second year since the redesign, Jaguar introduces a sport wagon to the model lineup. With two body styles, six trim levels and four engines, the 2018 XF proves to be desirable for anyone looking for a luxury sedan.

Four engines are offered to power the Jaguar XF, 3 gas engines and 1 diesel. At the top of the power is a supercharged 3.0L V6, which produces 380-horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. With this power, the XF will hit 0-60 in just 5 seconds. Two more fuel-efficient gas engines are offered; both are 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged, one making 247-horsepower and the other pushing a massive 296-horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there is an option of a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo diesel, making 180-horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque. Each is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, though all-wheel drive is available across the model range.

For 2018, six XF trims are offered: XF, Premium, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport and S. The XF trim features 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, automatic stop/start technology for increased fuel efficiency, an 8-inch touchscreen, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, and a 380-watt Meridian audio system. The Premium trim adds driver seat memory, a power adjustable steering column, a 40/20/40 split-fold rear sea, rearview parking camera with guidance lines, and memory power folding exterior mirrors.

Stepping up to the Prestige includes all the Premium features, while adding 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, heated grained leather seats with 4-way power lumbar support, a leather heated steering wheel, interior mood lighting, navigation and a front parking aid. Rounding out the top-end of the luxury trims, the Portfolio trim takes it to the next level with additional features such as Windsor leather 20-way electric front seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, blind spot monitoring, 12.3" full digital instrument panel, upgraded 825-watt surround sound system and a powered gesture trunk lid.

Jaguar also offers two sport trim levels, the R-Sport and S. The Jaguar XF R-Sport adds a dash of visual athleticism to the mix, with 19-inch wheels, a special body kit that includes a revised front bumper, side sills and vents, plus chrome exterior accents. LED headlights with adaptive high beams complete the outside accessories, while R-Sport instruments and SiriusXM satellite radio grace the inside. Meanwhile, a lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitor with closing vehicle sensing and reverse traffic detection up the safety quotient in the R-Sport. The XF S builds on the R-Sport treatment by adding 20-inch wheels, black side sills, a rear valance and spoiler, plus red brake calipers and Adaptive Dynamics, which modifies the car's responsiveness in acceleration, throttle, cornering, braking, and shifting with respect to both road conditions and driving style. Special S instruments and S badging round out the interior.

And finally, the new Sportbrake sport wagon is introduced with the 2018 XF models. This sport wagon is standard with the 3.0L Supercharged V6 engine and all-wheel drive. The Sportbrake incorporates the standard features of the XF Sedan plus adds gloss black roof rails, an integrated rear spoiler, rear self-leveling air suspension, a powered gesture tailgate and a stainless-steel cargo space scuff plate. Zero to 60 in 5.3 seconds has never felt so good in a sport wagon.

Options and packages include a Cold Climate Package, with heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield. The Vision Package adds adaptive LED headlights, front and rear parking aids and a blind-spot monitor. On the S, a Driver Assistance Package brings park assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and more.

Standard safety features on the new XF include dynamic stability control and traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system and a host of airbags.
